In times of crisis, it is important to remain focused on the issues of the day and the pressing concerns of our communities. The Goldie Initiative is committed to our mission and to focusing on the unique needs of our Goldie Scholars and Alumnae, as they navigate the uncharted waters brought to them by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Following are some of the ways the commercial real estate industry can support Goldie Scholars and Alumnae through these unprecedented times. We will continue to update this list with additional ways the industry can support our future leaders.
Provide Internship and Job Placement Opportunities
When faced with economic uncertainty, companies can cut internship opportunities for full-time graduate students (MBA, JD programs). Indeed, The Goldie Initiative has received word that several summer 2020 internship programs have been cancelled, delayed or postponed. If your company can help place Goldie Scholars in internships this summer or has leads on jobs for MBA, JD or MSRE graduates, please contact us.
Participate in Blood and Food Drives
The Goldie Initiative’s Alumnae & Events Committee is currently organizing a blood drive for healthy individuals who might be able to assist by donating. If you are interested in giving blood, please contact us and we will notify you when a date and location in downtown Chicago is confirmed.
Mentor with The Goldie Initiative
The Goldie Initiative is now recruiting applicants for our 2020-21 Goldie Scholars program. We are also recruiting Mentors for 2020-21; please consider serving as a Mentor with our incoming class.
“I have already touched base over the phone [with my mentee]. While she is still working, her work has slowed considerably… I’ve tried to relay the message that this is part of the business cycle – an unusual one, but I’ve been through a couple in my lifetime and find that this too will pass.” -Goldie Mentor, April 2020
