University of Wisconsin-Madison – Graaskamp Center for Real Estate Awards Goldie Wolfe Miller the Wisconsin Innovator Award

On March 3, 2021, The Graaskamp Center for Real Estate, in collaboration with the Wisconsin Real Estate Club, presented Goldie Wolfe Miller with the Walker & Dunlop Innovator Award.  Each year, the Innovator Award is awarded to an individual that embodies the spirit of the Wisconsin Real Estate Center in its innovation in teaching and research, as well as in the accomplishments of its alumni and practitioners. Past recipients have all embodied this spirit of real estate innovation, and Goldie Wolfe Miller is no exception.

Wolfe Miller is currently the President of Millbrook Corporate Real Estate Services, a full-service consulting company specializing in the office and industrial marketplace. Throughout her award-winning career, she has completed approximately three billion dollars in transactions, making her one of the country’s most successful female real estate brokers and sought-after professionals.

One of Wolfe Miller’s most important accomplishments, however, is her philanthropic work. While she has served on various boards throughout her career, her most notable role is Founder of The Goldie Initiative, an organization dedicated to redefining the commercial real estate industry by elevating and advancing the careers of women with high potential. The Graaskamp Center has had four students selected as Goldie Scholars over the years, all of whom shared brief remarks about their experiences as a Goldie Scholar and the positive impact it has had on their lives and careers.

“This program has been an invaluable opportunity and has been so much more than just a scholarship,” said Carolyn Kane, a second-year Goldie Scholar. “The Goldie Initiative has inspired me and shown me that I can be an impactful and meaningful individual within the real estate industry.”

During her acceptance speech, Wolfe Miller discussed her upbringing as a European immigrant and all of the hard work she put into creating her successful career in the real estate industry. But at the end, she just circled back to how passionate she is about The Goldie Initiative.

“I have received many awards, but this award has just touched my heart. Hearing from [The Goldie Scholars], it’s made it all worthwhile,” Wolfe Miller said. “I have to thank these young women — they are incredible and are my role models to the women today.”

Goldie Wolfe Miller is the first female recipient of the Innovator Award. This marks great strides for female representation for both in the Graaskamp Center for Real Estate and the industry as a whole. Other recent milestones for the Graaskamp Center include:

• Based on the combined MBA Real Estate and MS Real Estate degree programs, we’re on track to have graduate student female enrollment exceed 15+ students next fall – close to one-third of total anticipated graduate real estate enrollment.

On the undergraduate front, about 25% of Wisconsin School of Business real estate majors are women. To meet that level of interest, the Woman in Real Estate (WIRE) club was formed and now has close to 100 members.

• The 2021 fall semester will mark the first time that two women are leading the Real Estate Club as co-presidents.
