Heitman Executive Mary Ludgin Receives Goldie Initiative’s Shero Award During Gala
Heitman partner Mary Ludgin likes to gather and share real estate information, whether it’s as the firm’s head of global investment research or as a longtime volunteer docent narrating architecture boat tours on the Chicago River.
Last week, Ludgin was honored at the Goldie Gala in Chicago for her career achievements and commitment to mentoring and advancing women in the traditionally male-dominated commercial property industry. During the event, attended by more than 700 at Wintrust’s Grand Banking Hall in the Loop business district, Ludgin received the Goldie Initiative’s Shero Award.
Ludgin serves on Heitman’s global management, investment and valuation committees. She also oversees its environmental, social and governance efforts and is known to tourists for providing historical and architectural context about Chicago’s skyscrapers.
Founded in 2007, the Goldie B. Wolfe Miller Leaders in Real Estate Initiative is a nonprofit group that prepares women for senior leadership roles. Its namesake founder and chair is a longtime commercial broker and entrepreneur.
The annual gala, which raised more than $950,000 with more than 150 sponsors, helps fund scholarships for women in real estate seeking postgraduate degrees. The organization unveiled its largest-ever class of Goldie Scholars for 2023-24, with 34 women attending business, design and law schools at universities including Harvard, Columbia, Northwestern, Georgetown and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Scholarships are valued at $15,000 spread over two academic years.
