The Goldie Initiative Alumnae & Events Committee Kicks off 2019 Activities

The Goldie Initiative’s Alumnae & Events Committee, co-chaired by Vera Halicki (Roosevelt University ’16) and Marissa Rose (Kellogg School of Management ’18), has set ambitious goals for its first year. They are: 1) To create quarterly touchpoints between The Goldie Initiative and Goldie Alumnae through informal and formal events; 2) To foster greater alumnae mentoring and networking opportunities with current Goldie scholars and The Goldie Initiative Network; and 3) To increase engagement of Goldie Alumnae by increasing attendance at Goldie Initiative events and/or participation in Initiative Committees.

The committee kicked off 2019 activities with a “Skate and Sip” event at Chicago’s iconic Skating Ribbon at Maggie Daley Park. The group followed up with a private tour of the new Hines development at Lincoln Common. Looking ahead, the group plans additional social outings such as a weekend group “Sweatwork” spin class and an after-work golf lesson as the weather improves. Additional outdoor gatherings are in the works for over the summer.

In June, the Alumnae & Events committee will host a new event for The Goldie Initiative, entitled “Find Your Chicago Real Estate Organization.” Hosted by LendLease’s new South Loop development, The Cooper Southbank, the event will provide the opportunity for Goldie Scholars and Alumnae to hear from and network with over a dozen local real estate membership organizations. In addition to enjoying amazing rooftop views during cocktail hour, each organization in attendance will speak to the group about what makes their organization great and how to get involved. The event is open to all Goldie Scholars and Alumnae along with a guest, as well as invited organizations. More information, including a list of participating organizations, is available here.
